Orchard Software's ELL Bundle and PracticePlanet's Web-Based Assessment Program Recognized as Finalists in 2008 AEP Award

ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 7, 2008 -- Siboney Learning Group's Orchard Software and PracticePlanet have been tapped as finalists in the 2008 Association of Educational Publishers Awards program.

Orchard's K-3 Language Arts Bundle was named a finalist in the AEP Distinguished Achievement Awards' ELL/ESL Curriculum Technology - Software category.

PracticePlanet, Siboney's web-based test practice product, also received the nod in the Distinguished Achievement Awards, achieving the finalist round in the Curriculum Technology -- K-5 Math Website category.

In addition, Siboney's 2007 PracticePlanet Launch was named a finalist in the Integrated Marketing Campaign category of the AEP's Beacon Awards.

"In a world of iPods, social networking, online gaming, and instant information, capturing the attention of today's students becomes a bigger challenge every day," said AEP CEO Charlene Gaynor. "This year's finalists effectively reach out to digital natives in creative ways and provide useful and convenient support to time-starved teachers."

"We are honored and thrilled to see Orchard and PracticePlanet acknowledged in this way," said Bill Edwards, president of Siboney Learning Group. "Siboney is proud to produce products that truly relate to the needs of today's educational environment. Keeping students engaged, while providing real time-on-task instruction continues to be our priority."

While most of the Orchard content meets the needs of ELL students, the K-3 Language Arts Bundle is especially helpful because it focuses on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, all critical to English language development. More than 8,000 schools across the United States use Orchard to help over 4 million students attain the skills they need to meet the rigorous standards of NCLB.

Siboney's PracticePlanet provides web-based test practice in grades 2-9 math and language arts and is aligned to state testing standards. PracticePlanet's automated functions for scoring tests, assigning practice, and reporting progress help teachers use class and planning time efficiently, but its 24/7 access on the web, immediate feedback, and fast-paced incentive games are what keep students engaged and on task.
