Orchard Gold Star versions 4.3 and newer are configured to work with multiple versions and editions of Microsoft SQL Server. To ensure that the Orchard Gold Star database communicates successfully with your database engine, the administrator user and his or her permissions must be set up manually.
SQL Server Configuration
Ensure Microsoft SQL Server is configured properly using the following guidelines:
- Mixed mode authentication is enabled in the server authentication section of SQL Server's security settings.
- SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections and the TCP/IP port is static (we recommend port 1433).
Administrator User Configuration
Use the following guidelines when configuring the administrator user:
- First, create a user named slgadmin (lower case).
- The following server roles should be selected:
System Administrator
Database Creator
Note: Actual role names may vary depending on your version of Microsoft SQL Server.
- The user should be set up to use SQL Server authentication rather than Windows authentication.
Note: This configuration will prevent the database engine from using the Windows login account to connect to Orchard. Whereas the Windows user is the domain name and username combination, Orchard Gold Star simply requires a username (slgadmin) to connect to the database engine.
- Make sure that the Enforce Password Policy option, if available, is disabled. Otherwise, the user must periodically change his or her password. (Orchard will use the administrator user’s password when connecting to Microsoft SQL Server.)
- For security reasons, contact customer support at 1-888-351-4199 to obtain the required user’s password.
