Orchard Gold Star 4.4.2 Update for Windows and Mac OS X

Note: The Orchard 4.4.3 update has been released and contains everything listed below as well as changes made in Orchard 4.4.1 and additional changes.  We recommend upgrading directly to Orchard 4.4.3 and using this article for reference purposes only.

Requirements: Orchard 4.4 or 4.4.1 for Windows or Mac OS X and Internet access (for installation)

The Orchard 4.4.2 update is available to customers that currently have Orchard 4.4 or 4.4.1 for Windows or Mac OS X installed.  This update includes the following changes as well as those in the previously released 4.4.1 update:

Windows and Mac OS X

Management System

• Added the ability for administrators to export student test data to a CSV file. This feature is available from the newly added Export menu. Refer to the support knowledge base article Exporting Student Test Data for additional information.
• Added automatic product update notification for teachers and the administrator user. Refer to the support knowledge base article Automatic Update Notification for additional information.
• Added the ability to display a pre-update message detailing the changes that will be made when future updates (e.g., 4.4.3) are applied.
• Added the ability to display a post-update message detailing the changes that were made by the update (i.e., this message).
• Added a site ID tooltip that is displayed when the user rests his or her mouse pointer over the school name on the login screen.
• Moved Export to PracticePlanet... to the newly added administrator Export menu.
• Renamed Export... to Export Users... and moved to the newly added administrator Export menu.
• Updated the About window to display Orchard Learning, Inc.
• Updated several report descriptions and program prompts to better match the product documentation.
• Updated System Details in the About window to display additional information.
• Updated licensing information in System Details of the About window to properly display licensed Orchard for Your State tests. Note that the generic subjects and levels are now displayed rather than state-specific information.
• Updated database integrity check to ensure that the auto-increment start values are within the correct range to protect against incorrect database restoration.
• Removed the ability to modify the Update Hybrid Workstation Automatically setting. To prevent incompatibility, hybrid workstations are now always updated automatically to the same minor version (e.g., 4.4.2) as the server installation to which they connect.
• Reduced the number of attempts made to connect to the database when it cannot be located. This greatly decreases the amount of time a user will wait before an error dialog is displayed.
• Corrected an issue that prevented the user from typing "guest" at the login screen.
• Corrected an issue where the teacher name would be displayed as "null, null" in the Class Assignment Report if the class had nothing assigned.
• Corrected an issue with the built-in messaging system where the first letter in a message's subject may be cut off.
• Corrected an issue where "null" might appear in the password column of a CSV file containing exported users.
• Corrected an issue where the Student Time-On-Task Report would only display time-on-task data generated after upgrading to Orchard 4.4. It would not display time-on-task data generated prior to the upgrade to Orchard 4.4.
• Corrected an issue where the Student Time-On-Task Detail Report would fail if the student had no time-on-task information.

Skill Trees

• Corrected an issue where the student name would be cut off on the Skill Tree desktop border in certain screen resolutions.
• Corrected an issue in two-player learning games that prevented two students from playing against one another if the second student had a password associated with his or her username.
• Corrected an issue with Flash Card Maker where a portion of the help contents were cut off.

Laptop Sync and Portable Drive Transfer

• Corrected an issue that could lead to missing data or data showing an incorrect date or time if a laptop's date and time setting was significantly different than the server's date and time settting.

Windows Only

Management System

• Updated splash screen to display Orchard Learning, Inc.

• Disabled Classic Skill Trees on the student assignment selection screen if the management system determines that the Mac the student is using does not support Mac OS Classic. A tooltip is also displayed to indicate why the Skill Tree is disabled.

There are two ways in which to install this update:

• Use the Orchard Gold Star Manager
  1. Log into the Orchard Manager as the administrator user.
  2. Choose Check for Updates... from the File menu.
  3. Click Apply Update and follow the on-screen prompts.

• Download the appropriate attachment below (recommended for users without Internet access at an Orchard workstation or with multiple standalone computers)
  1. Click to download Win_442_Install.zip for Windows or Mac_442_Install.zip for Mac OS X.
  2. Unzip the file once it has been downloaded.
  3. Double-click on the application to launch it.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts.
