The following table provides basic information about the upgrade path from older versions of Orchard to version 4.4.  To determine your specific upgrade path, locate your current Orchard version in the left column of the table and read the associated upgrade path information in the right column.

Note: Your current Orchard version may be determined by viewing the login screen and/or the About window.

Current Orchard Version  Upgrade Path
3.7 or older There is no direct upgrade path and we recommend starting with a new installation of Orchard 4.4.

Note: The older version of Orchard may be archived for access to historical data if desired.  It will not interfere with Orchard Gold Star.  However, care should be taken to ensure students no longer log into the older version.
4.0 The following steps are required to upgrade from Orchard 4.0 to Orchard 4.4:

1. Upgrade the Orchard database to 4.1 using the appropriate Database CD and 4.1 installation code
2. Follow the Orchard 4.4 installation instructions
4.1, 4.2, or 4.3  Follow the Orchard 4.4 installation instructions

If you own the District Application or have multiple schools installed to a single Orchard database server, all schools must be upgraded to Orchard 4.4 at the same time.  It is not possible to host multiple versions of Orchard on a single database server or to use the District Application with multiple versions of Orchard.

After completing the upgrade to Orchard 4.4, please log into the Orchard manager as the Administrator user and choose Check for Updates... from the File menu.
